I'm off to visit a new research site in Africa today! I'm very excited to meet the team and to discuss how my field work might be carried out there. I'm also very excited to see some elephants! More from Africa when I get back. :)
I was lucky enough to be invited to present in the Falling Walls Lab in Groningen on the 16th October. In this competition, each presenter talks about their groundbreaking idea from their research in just 3 minutes with the help of only 2 slides. I saw some amazing presentations and was thrilled to participate. If you have a marketable idea from your research, I'd really recommend it!
I was thrilled to see that work I've recently published got so much attention. It was great having the chance to communicate it to everyone who could have an interest. Simon and I wrote a blog on our paper on patterns of growth in male and female elephants. Simon worked really hard on this and did some fantastic analyses as part of his MBiolSci. Look out for another paper on predicting elephant size soon! I also wrote a blog for Serious Science on the ageing and stress pape
