Volunteer position available
I'm looking for someone to work on transforming a database into a suitable format for analysis. Sorry to be vague, but the project is in its infancy! In this initial phase. it's just about getting data in shape, but staying on for analysis and/or developing this into a Master's project could be planned. Work can be done remotely from wherever you are, but you're also welcome to visit me in Cambridge and I'll take you to lunch in College or we could arrange a formal visit to t

Paper accepted in PLOS One
I'm very excited to let you all know Simon's second paper will be out soon. It's on estimating elephant body size. This will be a really useful field tool for people and I'm very excited because I'd had the idea a while ago, but it was Simon's hard work (and the work of lots of helpers in Myanmar and co-authors in Sheffield) that made it happen! Simon has been offered a PhD place and will go on to do amazing things in science. I'm very happy I go to co-author his first papers

Field trip in March-April
I'm very excited to be doing my second field trip of the project in March and April. I'll be attending the Savanna Science Network Meeting. I will also be meeting with collaborators and getting lots of data collection done. Should be a great trip!
Funding for genotyping
I'm very pleased to say that I've won funding through the NERC Biomolecular Analysis Facility at Sheffield University to undertake genotyping of project samples there. Hopefully there will be plenty of samples after my two field trips this year!
