On my last trip to South Africa, I was very honoured to be invited to present at a colloquium on the illegal wildlife trade at the University of South Africa in Johannesburg. I have a DST NRF at the university and it was fantastic to be a part of a big event with them. I returned to South Africa in October to meet the new field assistant, Jessica (see the team page). I was also able to take along new equipment (a quick release should make our mics easier to attach and the time to starting recording shorter), join on field days and plan for the next year of research!
