I returned to South Africa in October to meet the new field assistant, Jessica (see the team page).
I was also able to take along new equipment (a quick release should make our mics easier to attach and the time to starting recording shorter), join on field days and plan for the next year of research!
We collected recordings, social and spatial data as usual and we were lucky to pick up calf dung! This will be used for parentage analyses as well as analysing dietary and hormonal markers.
