Paper in PNAS
It's exciting to have this paper come out in PNAS. I was part of a team including Josh Plotnik, Lydia Tiller, Dan Brubaker, Rachel Dale and Nicky Clayton, investigating the ability of elephants to distinguish between quantities of food using olfaction alone. The elephants are part of the Golden Triangle Elephant Foundation in Thailand.
Basically it means that elephants sniffed, but didn't look into buckets of sunflower seeds and consistently selected the larger quantity to eat! Of course it was a well-designing study on a great topic and I as glad to be part of it.
